Yup’iks have always been innovative in the use of materials and development – and adoption of – new technology. My use of modern tools and materials combined with traditional tools and materials creates unique artwork that holds true to my Yup’ik culture. From the tools used to gather food, the harpoon, legcik and ulus; to artwork that is used in celebration, masks, drums and dance fans, all tell and hold the stories of our people, strong, resilient and ever adapting.
